Am headed to Cascades in two weeks. Where to fish? East Lake? What part? Float tube or boat? Any thoughts on Hosmer? Any other suggestions? Thanks.

In order of my preference
1) Gold Lake
2) East Lake
3) Paulina Lake
4) Miller Lake
Probably too early for Hosmer. It is better in October and November(or until the snow starts to pile up in drifts).
I am sure that others will chime in with more locations.

Lava Lake can be fun, if you're not looking for too much solitude. Crane Prairie is always an option, and I wouldn't rule out Hosmer, either. East would be my first choice, though.

Which Gold Lake?
By Waldo, or another?

Gold lake, Hwy 58 almost to the top of willamette pass.

Yes, this Gold Lake is near Waldo Lake, but don't take the Waldo Lake road. Continue East up Hwy 58 until you are about 1/3 of a mile from the Willamette Pass Summit. The road to Gold Lake takes off from Hwy 58 going to the north and continues about two miles before ending at the lake. I plan on giving it a try the weekend following Labor Day.
