I fished the D, a group of us fished the Mecca area. The island was the best fishing on the river, but decided to float it on Saturday.
Fish were mainly onto small nymphs, one that looks like a bead head copper john done with green and red wire on a scud style hook worked best. You can get them at the fly shop south of Warm Springs. The guys that fished only the Mecca island did better than the 4 that floated. We did get a nice change of scenery.
We were setting the anchor in the mid river shallows in Dry Creek and a guide and clients out of Sisters floated in about 50 feet away right at the start of the fishing slot. He waited about ten minutes without moving and I walked up next to his boat and started fishing. It was very unprofessional for him to come so close with his boat. This shop has had other complaints about fishing on redds before on this site. I hope he is reading this and will anchor 200 feet or so and let us fish the hole we were in first.
