Hi Guys,
My buddy just moved up to Kotzebue(spell?) AK and hooked up with another friend of his and caught these beautiful char. Jon said it was a intense because of the abundance of bears. They got charged once but didn't have to shoot although as you can see they were prepared to do so . I think the big one was 22 pounds by the local char formula. Enjoy the pics!!

Holy cow! Where is that in relation to Fairbanks? I'm headed up North of Fairbanks this week. We'll be going as far up as the Yukon River at Circle. I don't really know what to expect and its not a fishing trip, but I'm taking a load of egg patterns, egg sucking leeches, and my 6 Wt. :yay:

I am pretty sure that it is NW of Fairbanks and directly North of Nome.

Wade,
I did the drive from Fairbanks up to the Arctic Circle a year ago. The Yukon is a big river and was not too clear when I saw it. I did not try fishing it. Give us a report so I'll know what I missed.

Wow, that buck has some really nice colors on it
to go with the size. Almost looks like a pink salmon -
brook trout combo!

Kevin, good luck with your 6 wt
Our initial plan was to observe and photograph the Aurora up North and I would sample the streams along the way :smash: but the forest fires smoked us out so we quickly changed plans and headed South to Seward instead. The only fishing I did was a "shoot-from-the-hip" halibut charter in the Gulf of Alaska, my first such experience. Actually about everything I did this last week was a first. My wife and I explored one of the few clear rivers coming into the bay (most were choked with glacial silt) and spotted quite a number of spawning pinks and chums, but it was getting too dark for photos and was our only opportunity. For those of you that haven't done Alaska, all I can say is DO IT! We spent a week there, flew into Fairbanks, rented a car and logged 1200 miles on it, did whatever we wanted including a full day glacier cruise, ate fancy dinners, modest breakfasts and lunches, the whole thing total was just under $3000. If you just wanna explore and fish it'd be way less, especially if you don't mind camping.
