Crappie Chaser

Saturday the 17th we fished a crappie/catfish combo. We hit the lower Powder early for crappie and found a tough, light bite. They were barely bumping the bait.We missed lots of strikes and lost several at the boat that were barely hooked. We caught 20 in 3 hours then headed for the flats and hopefully some catfish action. It turned out to be a good move.In 3 hours we landed 37 channel cats from 2-7 lbs. Most of then were 4lbs. We had several doubles and almost a triple.
Sunday the 18th we had a crappie trip and had the same light bite.We started slow, landing a few at each stop.At mid-day we had around 30 but the size was really good. The last stop made the day.We ended up with around 80 and 16 of them were 13"or more. Our 2 best went 14".All the big fish were white crappie and really thick. They are feeding heavily on the newly-hatched fry.Maybe that's why the bite is so light.
