If you have someone you want to introduce to fishing Billy Chinook is the place! A Buddy and I caught about 250 dinks in about 6 hours. Mostly they were caught on 4" rattlesnake worms cut in half on a 1/16 gamakatsu jig head. We rented a boat for the day at the marina for $55. Just about anywhere on the rocks will produce a fish-- but we got bored after awhile and tried for larger fish. Parallel casting the bank with a 1/8 jighead and a YUM 3" craw in green and orange produced about twenty from 1.5 to 2 pounds (but none larger). I suspect the larger ones could be had a night or in early sping...does anyone know?? We saw other folks fishing for bass, but they were using spinners with little success. Bama

I have only fished Billy Chinook once before. I had the same success you had, lot's of small fish.
I have some friends who live in the area that fish it quite often. They tell me for numbers, it's the place to go. But finding one over 2lbs is rare, a 3lb fish is extremly rare. Its still a lot of fun on light gear to catch 100 plus smallies in a morning.

When you say dinks what do you mean? I am headed up to Craine Pararie a few times in the next couple of weeks and need to find out what works best there. Would those same plastics work out there that you used? What is a rattlesnake ?

Dinks are are what I call bass below 10". Rattlesnake worms are 4" plastic worms that can be found at GI Joes. They are cheap, important for those of us who can't afford the price tag on the Gary Yomomoto products, and they are effective. Bama

From what I have read and heard, the water there just stays to cold to grow the bass very large. I have had my best success on the crooked river arm. It is the warmest of the three.
