Howdy all. I'm new to ifish and I really like the site. We just got back from a fun trip at tenmile. fishing and the weather was good, but our boat motor froze up on the second to last day there. we got the pre mix 50 to 1 fuel from the north lake resort. normaly I wouldn't think much of it, but We heard of several boats on tenmile having problems the past two weeks. Has anyone got the pre mix fuel at the resort and if so any problems? thanks for any replies.

We were down there last week. Didn't hear anything like that, but we moor our boat at Lakeside Marina and get our gas there. Never any problems in the last 15 years!! Don't you just love it down there??

I love it down there. the lake and campground were awsome. Fishing was good we got several good size bass tons of little perch and even got into some crappie one day. we had a really good time. I just wish we could have fished the last day a little more.

:depressed:Bummer about your motor :depressed:

It's a bit late for this advice but I would never buy pre mix when I'm using my 2 stroke motor and I don't worry about it when I'm using the new 4 stroke.

I've never bought pre-mix, and hope I would pass up the opportunity, if my outboard required it. But it's not just pre-mix that can ruin your day. We were taking out at the public launch at Silver Lake (Cowlitz Co.) some years ago, and two older gentlemen came paddling/drifting up to the ramp. Their main engine (an I/O, I think) had quit shortly after they launched. Fired up the kicker, ran it a couple of minutes, and it also quit. "Where did you buy gas this morning?" I sez. "AM-PM" he sez. That's where you get gas with water already in it.... :smash: C&R, Steve

I'm with Keta. I'd never do it. I've had to buy oil before when I was caught unprepared, but I mixed it myself.
Come to think of it, I've never heard of anybody selling pre-mixed gas. Seems like a bad idea for both he user and the seller.

ARCO's gas is sub-grade 85-octane with ethanol (denatured alcohol) mixed in at 10% to bring the octane up to 87.
Ethanol, besides being hard on all things metal, also absorbs water quite well. It also knocks crud loose from the tank and lines and helps plug up filters, float bowl and carb jets. :help:

A lot of marinas sell pre-mix. We have been using it from Lakeside Marina for at least 15 years and have never had any problems whatsoever. Used it in the boat and also in the weedeater and chainsaw. Just our experience with it!!

I can't say for sure if it was the gas but I won't be buying pre-mix again. If I mix it myself and the motor gives us problems then I know it isn't the gas. Thanks for all the info and comments.
