Last year me and my buddies all went up to devils lake for some fishing, not a whole lot of action. But everywhere we went we would run into schools of 50-70 twenty pound grass carp. Sure looked like fun to catch. The problem is getting them to eat. Any ideas or sure fire ways to get em to bite? I know there are other polls about carp, but i didnt know if these grass carp were any different. Thanks for the help.

Devils lake carp are protected believe it or not!! I havent been over and fished Devils lake for a few years, but I know there used to be signs at the ramps saying that you were not allowed to harass them.

They were planted by the home owners assoc. to rid the lake of the milfoil. Devils lake at one time was completely choked with it. But with the carp came the crash of one of the finest largemouth fisheries I have seen. I hope that someday they will start to remove some of those carp.

Rebell,
If you live long enough , enough of them should die off. They are not able to spawn . There were 2 planting of the carp and the first bunch should start dieing in about 6- or 7- years from now .
It would be nice to have the Largemouth back again . I fished Devil lake last year and my partner caught a nice 5- pounder . It was the only fish we hooked for 2- days of fishing . :jester:  :yay:  :angel1:

Whatever you do, dont try using Berkley crappie nibbles (white) 20 inches under a clear bobber.

Believe it or not a tiny Rapala floating on top with just a little twitch to make a ring on the water and they will explode on it. :yay:  :smash:
