I just had a great week of chasing sturgeon on the Columbia Estuary. One of the reasons it's been fun is that I've had a lot of father and son and husband and wife trips. Sturgeon fishing in Astoria is great for this because of all the action with hard fighting fish.
We've been catching dozens a day with limits common. And I can tell you there have been some very nice fish in there, lots of 50+ inchers.

On a couple days we've gotten into a lot of fish but only been able to keep one or two. Several of the fish released were just under the 45 inch minimum. But that's OK as everybody still had a great time and next year, all those released that were just under will be waiting as keepers.
