I just got back from watching the weigh-in at the Big K guest ranch for the second annual smallmouth derby. The team of Phil Strader, Dave Palmer, Jamie Pope won it with a little over 22lbs of bass. Second place had about 17lbs.
Big fish was a little over 3lbs but a lot of 2lbs fish were brought in to the scales. Reports were 100 fish a day in some of the boats.

I will be there next year it is a good reason to go fish on some private river access. It will be next year the weekend before the forth of July. They also have big air jumping dogs going on at the same time.

Can you fish the water that runs thru the Big D property ? I would like to do that drift, electric motor thru the less fishy water as it appesrs to be a long drift.

Yes you can fish it by putting in at the Kellogg bridge for $10 but it is about a 15+ mile drift in some low slow water with a really nasty spot you don't want to go through. You can see it up river from the second bridge you cross. I had a buddy who sunk a boat there years ago.
