:help:Hey Crappie Chaser, My wife and I are are staying at Hewett park July 1st thur the 5th :dance: hoping to find some crappie and maybe some catfish. I have been fishing the 1st week of May the last few years and done very well.But a project at work kept me from getting there at that time this year and I don't know where we should start trying first Any help would be great. Its a long drive to go fish a place that you haven't fished at this time of the year. But I love the country and I bet the water is warm enough to jump in now. Billy
Bring your own shade! It was over 100 on the lake the other day. Good luck. I'd catfish up near Huntington, where there is some current. Use worms, cutbait or crickets. This time of year the fishing is best in the evenings, through the night and till it starts to get hot.

Thanks for the info Mojo are the skeeters out at night because that is the best time to fish for crappie and Big Wiskers
It may just be me, but I've never had any problems with skeeters. I don't fish the Powder River arm much. I've heard they can be a bit nasty there.

Hey Billy,we are averaging 20-25 fish per rod.Some are still spawning,some are in summer pattern.Some days we have all we want by noon and leave them biting to go on to something else.Getting some cats but not like the middle of the month when we were sight fishing them out on the Snake.Getting a few nice bass, a 17" 4lber yesterday.I am fishing the Snake although spots on the lower Powder should be holding fish.I dont night fish.If I were camping I would fish early, kick back in the middle of the day and fish again in the evening.Let me know what space you are in at Hewitt and I will try to stop by.

Hey Gary thanks for the good report. We are staying in #9 in a white ford with an Artic fox camper on its back.We should be getting there before noon this thursday. Hope to see ya there. We will be fishin out of a white thunder jet with a raised deck. Billy
