Met up with Dipsnort (Dave G., from Auburn, WA) Thursday night at the Western Bass Club meeting. We made an appointment to go to Lk. Holm in East Auburn, a small-ish electric-only lake with a good population of Largmouth. It's where I go when I want to catch some numbers, not size, and enjoy some peaceful hours with a great view of Mt. Rainier. We took the Nitro, but didn't run the bigg'un.

I told Dave that today (being clear, hot, sunny and little wind) would be poor after about 10am, and that came true. He was setup with PowerPro line on two rods (one a Fenwick, the other a St. Croix...nicer stuff than most of mine), per BuKuBass' instructions, with uniknot and long leader. I tried it. Worked nice, and Dave said "That BuKu guy knows what he's talking about." Amen to that.

I'd suggested that Dave get himself a bag of 4" Senkos, and suggested Green Pumpkin (#297?), and he caught his first Senko fish. I caught a LM estimated to be about 2.5 lbs, another about 1.5 lbs, and a bunch of others. Pretty decent size for this particular lake. All I fished were 5" Green Pumpkin Tiki Stiks by Wave Worm, one of the better Senko knock-offs. Not a bad bait at all. Also would report that I'd bought one of those 69 cent red plastic Danielson hook removers, and had a couple of times to try it. It WILL remove a hook from the gullet of a bass, and while I don't think it's the best one, it does work, and is recommended. Generally, I won't buy Danielson stuff, but this thing did work ok. I hope Dipsnort had a good time and doesn't think S. Basser  is too clueless. C&R, Steve

 Aw shucks Steve; t'wern't nuthin'.
I know of a guide or three that like Danielson snap swivels; never found a need for them other than a cheap tubing/lead holder for drifting. But I think that there're better options.

Hey, that Dipsnort guy sounds ok to me!

Steve's my go-to guy for bassing tips, and he has a real purdy boat too. Thanks for the day on the water, Steve! :yay:

Dipsnort, don't forget me when you wanna go to Lk. Moneysmith. I bet there are some bruisers in there. Ignorant bruisers, at that. Gotta love naive bass. C&R, Steve

I'd be willing to bet there are bruisers in there too! I'll send you an e-mail with a little more information about Moneysmith. I'm just thinking out loud here, but I may be able to go there on Sunday - an early trip like we did last time. Why don't you consider whether you can go and I'll ask for "permission" from the Mrs. :flowered:

I'll bring the canoe.
