Hey,

As school is getting ready to end for the year, my wife and I are planning a trip down the John Day River from Service Creek to Clarno. I know that there are a ton of small mouth in that river and was wondering what type of flies to bring. I have floated it in the past and wolley buggers seemed to work just fine. But I was wondering if there was any dry fly action to be had on these guys?? If possible, some pics would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
TB

Poppers are the way to go!! I have used green and yellow color combonations in the past with a herky-jerky strip motion in the eddies. I used to use a brown rabbit hair fly on a number 6 long shank hook with brass barbel eyes that seemed to work great too!
