I recently bought a book titled "Understanding Trout Behavior" and I recommend it for anyone wanting to try to understand why trout act the way they do.Lots of good info on how light refraction plays a major part in how a fish behaves.
Here are a few highlights
...fish can see contrasting patterns and shapes with exceptional clarity
...the apex of a trouts cone of vision gets larger the deeper the fish is in a hole.
...a fly rod cast side arm instead of overhead will reflect less light and not spook fish as much.
...a greased (with floatant) leader will appear much thicker when viewed from under the water.
Anyway if you get the chance to take a look at this book I think you find it helpful in your fishing.
