Hey have any of you fly fished up there I was thinking of making the drive up there this weekend and see if the snow has melted. What flies should I use? I am stuck to the bank what type of room is there for a back cast should I bring the waders? Any way any help would be great thanks Ryan

You need a boat to have a good time. Backcast only fun on South side of the lake. Haven't fished it in 8 years but it is shallow and known to kill in harsh winters. Make a backup lake plan if that doesn't work out just in case.

I believe JREEZY told me about that little gem of a lake. I was up there last summer and PD was right. It was very shallow, but this was late summer so there should be more water in there. There were lots of little brookies around. A tube would make it much better for you, but there is a wooden raft (or there was) that was usable, although I wouldn't stake my life on it. I found it on the far side of the lake and it carried all the way to the other, so...There was a nice camp spot on the lake, but I ended up hauling out a FULL large garbage sack with me. So, if there is litter, please back it out with you.
When I was there they were hitting little green pupas, so I would take some bead head serendipities in both green and black. Then just the normal array of lake flies. Also, the bottom had a very deep layer of sediment on it, so if you walk out there be very careful about not getting stuck or sinking! :ooo:
Good luck and let me know how it looks this time of year as I would like to get back up there soon.

Yeah I told ya happy fisher bout this little lake. I stumbled acrossed it kind of on accident, be sure to bring your compass, there is no real trail to the lake, its a bushwack hike, but for some reason people keep finding the lake and dropping there garbage there, is there some kind of other road there that i dont know about, well anyways. The lake is extremely shallow and muddy. I did well wading out a couple of feet, and casting parallel to the shoreline, the bank is undercut in some spots and a lot deeper than most parts of the lake, I dragged a olive wooly bugger, bead head prince nymph, black ant, you name it I caught fish, I must have caught it on a great day because the lake was very lively. I caught a nice 14 inch fatty out of there. Let me know how you do, if it is even accessible yet, thanks.

Ok the weather was nasty and there was a chance of some low snow so we did not walk back into dinger lake so we fly fished at Harriet did not get a bit and then fly fished our way up the oak grove fork of the clack and fished some nice water but still not a bite. So we headed to timothy just to get some fish put the fly rods away due to rain and got five on bait and went home rp

Ouch! Sounds like my week! I went to the coast like I told you but by the time I got there on Wed. the rivers had come up about 4-6 inches and the fishing was terrible. Fished two out of three days and NO fishies. Hoping the coming week is better.
