I spent the night on the river last night, and woke early to a VERY windy canyon. The fishing was slow to start but picked up once I figured out which nymph they wanted. I did a stomach pump on a tighty whitey and found may fly nymphs.

These are some small buggers! But when you run a 16 prince or pheasant tail through some nice runs, you get rewarded with solid head shaking bobber downs!

The water was up a bit from what I usually fish, it was 57 degrees in the morning and about 2.5 feet of visibility.
I was doing some more testing with my 5 weight spey rod, it is a nymphing machine!

And for those that were wondering, the salmon flies are there. They looked to be just starting, one decided I looked like a tree in the middle of the river.

The Golden Stones are there as well and are in full mating action. The fish didn't seem to be looking up while I was there, but I was told the evening fishing has been super duper!!

Get over there and have some fun!!!

Nice. I'd like to try that rod sometime. I bet you could get out to where the fatties are.

I saw a guy who was going to toss his adult salmonflys with a 9wt spey rod on friday. I wonder if you could even feel a trout on that thing.

Let's go over there this summer and you can use it as long as you want.

That first shot is so close it looks like the Surgery channel!

July sounds great. Hopefully it will work out for my family's schedule. It'd be nice to hook up again BTS.

I have a drift boat, and could take a person or two. Anyone else have a d boat that wants to get in on this?

Second weekend in July? Warm Springs to trout creek, over one night?

2 d boats, 6 people, what do you say?

Nope. First or third weekend I could do.

I might go and have a driftboat. That is a pretty easy stretch to row, right? I haven't tried any Big D floats yet. My preference would be for 3rd weekend in July.

I think 3rd weekend could work. If we get more drift boats I think we are going to get crowded. Otilith, that is a pretty easy drift, I think you would be fine.

The fishing may be on it's way downhill by the 3rd wk of July, but lets do it anyway.

I'm interested, and I got a boat. When things get definite please make a post. Another good trip would be Davis Lk. sometime depending on water levels. I've had 50 fish days and they are nice fish. Largemouth Bass should be on their beds a few more weeks. They are so aggressive! they hammer anything that gets close to them. Probably a good Idea to take along your 8wt. for those guy's.
