Here's the standard bankie rig for fishing the rocks up at bonneville.
note the 20lb dropper for the weight so it breaks off before the 30# mainline or 40# leader.
The weight gets hung up and gets wedged in the rocks so weight loss is inevitable..better to loose the weight than your rigging or a fish!

i plunk of rock in oregon across from willow grove instead of looseing my weight i tie on a rock with about 8lbs test so every time i want to check my gear i break that rock off and gear comes right up

Bigwiz..your idea will work, but not very Bonneville wise

The above Tech tip is for Bonneville, and 8lb leaders to a rock won't hold up.

Thanks for the pics and info Fshklr. I'd love to try this sometime. I don't currently have the gear for it, but it looks like alot of fun and obvisously can be very productive

Another thing you guys can use is go out and find some old rail road ties and get the big huge nail things out of them. Those are free and are worth losing them. They are also very hard to get snagged up in the rocks. Very rare that i loose one. :alert: But make sure they are tied on good enough to the line because they become good spears when you are trying to cast and they break off. :bigshock:
