This has been one of the best falls and not just for all the fish we've caught but also because of all the great people I shared it with, the great weather (most of the time), and the little things that have happened.

These are some of the things that stick in my memory...
There's the first time salmon fishers that get their first salmon, what a treat. The rush of landing all those doubles on big chinook. That time a 28 pounder followed the herring right to the boat and slammed it. Seeing that brilliant rainbow over the Oyster House hole on that very wet and windy morning with thunder and lightning. And the golden sunrises with wisps of mist in the surounding hills like we had a couple days ago. I have enjoyed meeting new people, many from around the country and fishing again with old friends.

When the bites on it's so cool.
I love it when your trolling along and the boat in front of you hooks up and you just know that as soon as you go through there you're going to too. Or when one of the rods starts getting bit and then stops only to have the fish move over to another rod. That happened the day before yesterday. Pete's rod starts getting a bite so John, who was sitting behind him, starts to reel in to get out of the way. I told him to stop and drop it back down because Pete's bite stopped. Sure enough, as soon as John hit bottom there was a fish grabbing it. John waited for the fish to take it down and I said, "set the hook, stick 'em". Shortly later John had his first ever salmon in the boat! It whent into the box with the one Pete had caught earlier. At the end of the day, on our last pass John caught his second chromer.

Johns first two salmon (L)
There will still be salmon available for the next several weeks and then the steelhead are just around the corner and I know we are in for some more fun times.
There has already been a few steelies caught in the bay and tidewaters, hopefully that's a sign of things to come
In early December we regularly have days when we get both fall chinook and winter steelhead. December through April is steelhead time...
