Since most of the fishing now through the summer on the Columbia for salmon and steelhead is anchor fishing I thought I would share this old hog line trick for getting your gear un snagged from the bottom.

I just take a plastic one liter pop bottle and put a couple inches of water in it, tie on a short peice of mono with a swivel on the end. Wrap over the knot with electical tape for so the line doesn't slip off and you're set.
When you are snagged real good just clip this on your line and free spool it back a ways, give it some jerks and a lot of the time it will free up your gear.
