Yesterday was a day you wouldn't want to miss being on the Columbia and a great day to end a great lower Columbia sturgeon season.
It was Adolph’s B-Day and he and some of his buddies booked me for a sturgeon fishing trip.
As we headed out from the ramp we spotted a mink and a raccoon hunting the shoreline exposed by the morning's low tide.
We hit the big river and were greeted by glass smooth water.
I headed to the previous day's hot spot but we were followed by a couple other boats that anchored in too close. I baited up one rod and before we even cast it out I decided to pull anchor and move to another spot with more room.
The tide wasn't really running much yet so the bite was off to a slow start but as the current picked up so did the bite.
We caught a lot of small fish so I moved again. Again we caught a bunch of shakers.
We moved around several more times and finally ended up fishing a small channel along side of an island. Here we found a school of quality fish.
By the end of the day we had all caught a sunburn, and enough fish I lost count. Everyone on the boat took home a nice keeper  .
