In a previous post last winter you may remember me writing about Maryanne and her "Lady Luck" at catching steelhead on her birthday.

Well, today I had the pleasure of fishing with her and her husband, Andrew, Andrew's dad, Ron and their neighbor Joe. We were after "oversize" sturgeon in the Columbia Gorge.

I knew it was going to be a good day when Andrew produced fresh chocolate dougnuts and Mt. Dew-he knew just what it takes to make the Guide happy!

Breakfast of Champions
We had to first get our bait, so up to the shad rack to catch some fresh shad. They were biting like crazy on our pearl/red Dick Knights fished behind Jet Diver. It was three fish on at a time, and in very short order we had a cooler full of bait.

Sturgeon fishing was a bit spotty but we did find a few biters, two we missed, one that broke off our leader and one eight footer that Joe and Maryanne brought to the boat.

The eight footer that Joe and Maryanne double teamed to the boat.

I only saw one other boat with an oversize on and after talking to a couple other guide boats they had the same success we did.
