My wife's mom had her surgery this morning. 4 1/2 hrs on the table. It was definately cancer. The tumor had started on the inside, but had grown through the lung into the chest cavity, and attached itself to two ribs. They removed 1/2 of the lung and #2&3 ribs, all the way from the back to the front. They also took numerous lymph nodes to see if it has spread. She is in for a rough ride due to the condition of her lungs, and will have to fight to avoid pnuemonia, and really work at keeping her lungs open. All in all it was just OK. Could have been much worse, that is for sure. I am really amazed at how tough this little lady is. We were allowed in for only a couple of minutes, and she just happened to open her eyes when we walked in. The first thing she said was "you girls need to eat". She is such a "mom". I would like to say THANK YOU for ALL of your prayers, even the ones not posted. Through the lord all things are possible. Continued prayers for a clean, and speedy recovery would be appreciated, and welcome. God Bless. Mike.
