Seems most of us are Oregonians, but I'm wondering if anyone is from my neck of the woods (South of Seattle Suburbs-Auburn). It would sure be nice to get out with a fellow basser on local waters. Anyone? Anyone?

I'm in Renton, work in N. Auburn. Where do you fish? I'm close to Lk. WA, and have a season launch permit. Also like to throw the canoe in some of the electric only lakes, to get away from the PWC's. :smash:  :yay:    :applause: C&R, Steve

Hi Steve! I live and work in Auburn. Most of the time (but not often enough) I go to Lake Sawyer, but I have tried Lake Wilderness, Kapowsin, and Lake Washington as well. I've had limited success at Sawyer and Kapowsin, but no luck at the others.
My boating options are somewhat limited. I normally use a pontoon boat, but also have a float tube and a canoe that I occasionally use. Some day I'll get serious and get a boat with a motor.
I'd like to figure out where and how to get into smallies at Lake Washington - I understand that's a pretty decent fishery. If you're ever up for some company on the water, let me know!

Dear DipSnort...Lake Wilderness is supposed to be a trout only lake, so don't fish for Basses there. I've been on Kapowsin a few times, early in my bassin' career, and didn't do much good. Lk. WA you can do ok from your pontoon boat in the sailing school area at the N. end of Coulon, in the Spring. I could also show you some other areas that you could fish with it, but can't put that on the 'net. I'd suggest Lk. Meridian, Holms, Moneysmith, or Morton or any of the lakes on the Federal Way ridge...North, Star, Doloff, Angle and some others.
Splitshot a 4" Zoom lizard or try a 4" Senko, either in Green Pumpkin. By the way, the Yamamoto Splitshot Hook (a circle hook configuration) would be great from your boats, needing almost no hookset at all. See their website for "how to", or I'll show you. I get off work at 3pm. Call me (425-255-1887) or email me (sbasseratyahoodotcom). If I'm good this weekend, I may get to go next weekend, but evenings are good. C&R, Steve

Hiya, Rip...Sumner...where do you fish? I guess Lk. Tapps would be fairly close for you, or do you prefer the lakes around Fed. Way, or Tacoma? There are some lakes I have not fished yet, but have hit many around WA. So many fish, so little time! C&R, Steve

Sorry, sbasser, just saw your response this morning. I'll be out of town next weekend, so even if you were a good boy this weekend, I wouldn't be able to go. Maybe we could figure out a different time to hit the water though. I'll give you a call this afternoon/evening.
By the way, I fished Sawyer on Saturday afternoon, but didn't get any action. I'm afraid that I'll need to expand my horizons and fish plastics to increase my chances for success. I have a selection of them, but have only tried them a couple of times, and wasn't really sure what I was doing.
Hey Rip, I'm as curious where you do your local fishing as sbasser. I've never fished the Sumner area, but I live pretty close.

I do not fish locally anymore, used to in the late 70's and early 80's. Just too many fishermen and not enough fish! We primarily go to Eastern WA (Moses Lk, Potholes, Banks, and Roosevelt ) though I recently took a trip down to Mayfield last week end (no one was catching anything). I plan to try Riffe lake when it fills up a bit more. I've fished some at Spanaway lake with limited success and Lake Tapps is pretty pathetic the times I've been out on it.
We've done alot of walleye fishing in the Eastern part of the state along with small mouth and trout success. West part of the state has been primarily limited to Salmon fishing in Commencement Bay.
Nice meeting y'all!

Now that you mention it, I tried Lake Tapps once, but no action. I believe there are smallmouths in there, but I've never heard a good report, so even though I can get there in 10 minutes, I avoid the place.
By the way, I couldn't help notice your user name - Ripsnort. What's up with that?

I've used this username since 1992 when I first came on the WWW. A long story short, when I was 16 I was thrown from one of our horses (Grew up in Minn and we raised quarter horses) onto a barbed wire fence, straddled. I tore my scrotum open and had to have stitches. When my Dad returned from work that evening he mentioned "Looks like you had a ripsnortin' good time!" The name stuck, the barbed wire did not...thankfully.

Owwwwwwwwwweeeeeeeeee! How long until the horse :smash: could see out of both eyes? I'm planning a short trip to Potholes about the end of April. I'll try to announce it here, maybe we can meet up. Normal deal is to camp/launch at Lind Coulee ramp. I've fished Moses a couple of times, Banks many times, but never Roosevelt. Have been meaning to give that a go, but I have been hooked on the Okanogan country for awhile. There really are a lot of small lakes around here that get almost no pressure on bass, and some don't even have PWC's to get your BP up.
Well, I hope Dipsnort doesn't have a similar horse story. He (Dave) did call, we did chat, and we'll hook up to do some bassin' before long. Should be fun...C&R, Steve

Sounds good, give us a report. I'll be in Vegas end of April but we're heading out to Mardon (Potholes) 3rd week in May for 3 days. I hope to get a Riffe Lake trout trip in too if the water level comes up any.

BuKuBass...if you added a "Pop-up Blocker", they generally will prevent email from opening. It opens and instantly goes away. Try "SpyBot" instead. C&R, Steve
Edit: The alternative to deleting a Pop-up Blocker is to figure out how to turn it off/on when going into email. I can't deal with all that. SpyBot doesn't hammer the PopUps, but it does prevent websites from downloading stuff into your box that you don't want :smash:. Cookies, anyone? :yay:
