View Full Version : Willamette Smallies
Took advantage of the great weather yesterday and headed out in the canoe with the father in law for some smallmouth.
It was a bit slow, but the fish we landed were good sized (3-4 pounds--probably spawning females?). If I knew how to post pics, I would-- oh well. We fished from about 11:30 to 2:00 pm upstream from the Canby ferry. The fish we caught were in about 10-15 feet of water in the seams and breaks. 3" brown/chartruse grubs were the ticket.
Lot's of skiers and wakeboarders out, which made for a few interesting moments in the canoe.
Tight lines....

Didn't have a temp. gauge, but I've heard it's running in the low 50's.
Hope this helps.

I was on that part of the river yesterday and saw about a half dozen boats fishing for smallies from Hebb Park to the Molalla River.

ABA had a tourney on saturday. It took 18 and change to win so some good fish were caught. We had almost 14 which isn't bad but finished in sixth. Water temp by our guage was 51 to 52. The fish seemed to have moved as we had to move around quite a bit to find the fish. Caught a lot of fish...just no real size.

My Father-n-law fished it also but only managed 7.75lbs. We did catch alot of fish but not to many with any size! We did manage a 3 lbr. It was fun and learned alot on that body of water!
Here is a pic of the 2 nicer ones!
Congrats WANNABE...

Thank you guys....I figure we have about another month and a half before the river gets real busy. I can hardly wait to get out there again and maybe catch the fish I wish I would of had in the tourney. I sure would like to have that weight at Ten Mile next weekend.
