I am new to Ifish, so posted this earlier in a different area. I am looking to expand my fishing experience outside of salmon/steelhead/bass into walleye- especially on the CR. Would appreciate any information concerning anyone particular to contact or to go fishing with for the first time. Thanks

Use the search function on the tool bar, and type in walleye, you should get some past discussions about guides up around Rufus and Umatilla which are a couple of the traditionally better spots for wallys. Central Washington also has some very good fishing for walleyes below the dams.

Hey Globugs,
Welcome to ifish.
I just returned from the Walleye tourney in Umatilla. It was the SmokerCraft/Sylvan Spring Walleye Classic.
They caught some very nice walleyes in 2 days. The big fish was 15.46 lbs. It was a couple of guys from Wyoming that won the Tourney, and made some good money. :yay:
To answer the question of who to contact for fishn tips, I would have to say High Desert Marine in Hermiston. Ask for Rod or Lara, and they should be able to help.
Hope all goes well in your search.
Send me a PM if you would like more info. Just go to the website below and you'll find me.
Happy Fishn'

Welcome Globug,
One of the best sources for info about CR walleye can be gotten from the Lower Columbia Walleye Club. The club has lots of good folks willing to share info like where to go, techiques, & mentors willing to offer "ride alongs". In fact that's kinda what the club's fishouts are all about. Much can be learned by riding along with an experienced walleye fisherman (or fisherwoman)in their boat. I'd like to extend a handshake and an offer to join us at our next general meeting this Thursday night as a guest. Here's a link for more info. http://www.walleyecentral.com/lrclmbia.htm
You can also feel free to drop me a line at Mike.W.Knifong@tek.com as well. I'm no expert by any means, but I have caught a few. My best fish last year was a 12lb'r and a few 8-9lb fish as well. Most of my fishing has been upriver, but I'm looking to learn more about the water here around the metro area.
Hope you can make it,
