Going over to eastern Oregon to fish the Snake had always been fun. I have always camped at Hewitt Park. There has to be other places to camp, right?

You can also camp at EAGLE CAP RV PARK IN RICHLAND . You will have to launch your boat if you have one , every day as the park is not on the water . Idaho Power has some very nice parks on the water , they are very clean and a great place to camp . They have a web at www.idahopower.com (http://www.idahopower.com) and you can call them at 1-800-422-3143 . :applause:

One time I Launched at Hewitt and boated all my camping gear to a spot down river that is at a 45 degree angle across from SAG Road. It is a small area where there is a flat spot of ground and big enough for a tent to be pitched. While camped there, we found an old plastic/aluminum outdoor type reclining chair in what appeared to be an old fire pit. Somebody probably left it there from a previous camping trip. It was broken and not usable.
We stayed there for 4 days and nights and parked our boat at waters edge just below the tent every night. It cost nothing and it was alot of fun if you don't mind roughing it.
The fishing was great. Espically along the wall opposite the the camp site.
Anyway, a couple years later I happened to be in a conversation with Hobart Manns (host of the Outback angler radio program on saturday mornings), about Brownlee. I mentioned to him that I had once camped along the bank of Brownlee and right away he said, oh you mean where that old broken down reclining chair is. I really got a laugh out of that. That place is one of the very few flat spots in the entire canyon of the Powder River and he knew it.
I had packed everything out of that camping site so that it would look like no evidence camping. But I did not bring that old chair out of there. I bet it's still there today!
