Fished Hagg Lake from my drifter for the first time today. Casted and trolled a crankbait from about 10 to 1:30 around the north end. Water temp was 48-50 degrees. I got into one nice smallie that came unbuttoned a few feet from the boat, but that was it.

At least you're able to get out and take advantage of this nice weather. Besides, Your worst day fishing is better than your best day at the office:)
I hope successive trips will be more productive for you.

I wasn't complaining - just giving the report. It was nice to get out and bass fish again. Haven't done it much since I left Florida 6 years ago. I think I'll be returning to Hagg many times this spring and summer. Somebody at the dock told me that when the water temp hits 58 the smallmouth bite turns on big time. I plan on being there

When the water warms up, this is a great lake for smallmouth. Since I live only eight miles away, I go down for an hour just before dark and have a ball with a small grub and light line. If I go during the day, I fish the shoreline with a small spinnerbait or a worm, no weight, cast toward shore. Fish the down timber as there are lots of larger fish there. I catch and release and have a good time. Warmer weather is coming and so is great fishing.
