Can any one out there tell me if there is any crabbing off the docks this time of year and also if there is any clamming that can be done. I'm going there for Thanksgiving and want to try to find some meat.

if there are negative tides you can dig gaper clams under the bridge. im sure there are some crabs in the bay but i have never done good crabbing there, even out of a boat.

I was there last Friday and we got limits of crab in about 3 hours.. It took some work.... if you call that work, but we did get two limits...
I will be there for Thanksgiving too.. and I'll be crabbing. Look for me. I'll be in a Green 18' sled (jon boat)with all the crab...

My parents lived in Newport for a few years...used to go down to the docks but had to work hard to get 'em. Ended up going to Waldport for better Crabbing. Never did figure out the secret and the folks are back in Idaho now :depressed:
