View Full Version : After Thanksgiving Sales.....who has what?

I was just wondering if anyone knows who 'typically' will have good sales (and what will be on sale) for the big after-thanksgiving sale. I know some folks have said things like 'just wait till Fishermans has their sale'.....or that rods or reels will be marked down at such and such a store......obviously I will have to look at the paper but seems like many of these sales repeat each year. Thanks

Last year, I kept eyeing a particular reel at GI Joes. The guy behind the counter told me to wait until the after Thanksgiving sale so I did. On the duly appointed day I showed up at GI Joes and the reel was nowhere to be found.

If you're shopping for run of the mill stuff, it'll probably be on sale. If you're looking for something particular, don't hold your breath.

Joes and Bimart usually have decent sales. Don't know about anywhere else.

The reel you are talking about went on sale at Joes like the guy said it did. The problem was that it was such a good sale that people were walking out with a dozen of them and it left none for anybody else. I remember that because I went in to get one on my day of which wasw the following day and the guy laughed and told me what happened. Said it was the darnedest thing he ever saw.

usually G.I.Joe's and fisherman's marine will have a really good day after thanksgiving sale, usually a 6AM to 10AM type of sale. Also G.I.Joe's has a one night only "Friends of Joe's" sale a week or 2 before christmas sale - 25% off all purchases which includes guns, needless to say the gun counter is pretty busy!

Ya'll might want to take advantage of the GIJoes coupon that's inside the front cover of the current Assoc.of Northwest Steelheaders magazine.

It's good through Nov.30, and is $10 off ANY purchase over fifty-dollars. No restrictions at all.

Use it on sale items for bigger savings (I sure have! - rods and crab rings)

I don't wanna spoil anybody's marketing...but Bi-Mart will be having a %off sale on rods, and a pretty good deal on Ambassaduers if you like them.

That's all I should say at this point.

Mark

Fish_N_Russ, Fisherman's marine is located right off I-205 on the east side of the willamette and at Delta Park next to I-5

Hey Grip it,
Wow! I never realized the Abu 4500 series was such a popular reel.

if there's something special you REALLY want, and you're willing to pay reg. price but you would like a sale (especially if you KNOW one is coming up), check the pricing programs at the store. GI Joes has a 30 day price guarantee -- get it not on sale, go in when it's on sale, they'll credit the difference. that way you can get the hot item before greedy gus comes in and snaps them all up.

Joes had a sale last year on a Abu reel and some of the Joes employees told me 300 went out of the store in less than two hours. I got a rain check but still could not find one in town. I beleive the reel was either a dicontinued or special order reel. It was either 29 or 39 bucks. Cheap for a level wind Abu. I could use a backup reel for that price.

Ifishers-

Last year at X-mas I bought 3 Abu c3 6500's at GI Joes for 29.99 apiece. They also had much of their fishing inventory marked down around the holidays.

Chummer - How did you hear about this sale "Friends of Joe's" sale a week or 2 before Christmas sale - 25% off all purchases? When is it this year?

Thanks,

Fish-n-Russ, for several years now 'Joes has had the inside cover of the Steelheaders magazine for their ads. IF you were a member (hint, hint) it would be conveniently delivered to your home.

Otherwise, a couple days ago the Delta Park 'Joes had quite few copies of the issue with the $10 coupon, located in a display rack between the fishing and hunting departments (pretty much on the center aisle).

Just talked to the sporting goods manager at Joes on 82 nd. He told me that they'll be selling Abu Garcia black max reels for $40.00 on Friday morning. He expects they'll be gone by 8:30 in the morning. Make sure and buy some extra stuff and use your NW steelheaders coupon for
$10.00 off. Kinda dissapointed they won't have a deal on ambassadors but maybe I'll pick one up.

The steelheaders is not just about steelhead. Any kind of piscatorial pursuit is our game. Also I cringe at the idea of being called a "club". It sounds like martinis at the clubhouse while the ladies do their sewing. The association is organized to assert our rights as anglers and to protect the resources we have. We also do a wide variety of cleanups, community service, and educational projects. The reason we have the discount from Joes is because they recognize that we are important partners in keeping alive a market that is important to them.
You and anyone else who has not gone to a meeting really ought to check us out.
