Tip of the week: Pick one section of river and learn it well.
Here's another one I'm sure many of you have heard but it's worth repeating. Too many times when starting out people will get good fishing reports from different areas and then try going to every one of them.
Me and my dad started out fishing salmon like this. We would here of good fishing at Selwood so on the weekend we would go there only to here they did good at Oregon City when we were at Selwood. Then the next weekend it would be at the Channel or Swan island.....We missed out on a lot of good bites. The next year we chose Oregon City and stuck with it all season and we caught some fish. We started to learn were the fish would be and at what time.
I have been fishing down near Longveiw the last week. We have had some great trips but I hear of reports from the Willamette or up at the Dam and am tempted to go try them but I will do best if I stick to what's been working for me.
I am going to fish the Gorge this Friday because I have a big group trip for sturgeon/salmon but I will return to were I've been fishing next week and until it runs out.
