Fished with my two boys today and it was one of those memorable days that will go down in Stewart family lore for years to come
We hooked a lot of salmon today (pics soon) but what is more important than that is the fact that my sons and I had a great day together....so Troy and Devon, your old man was proud of you two today graemlins/hearton.gif I love you both
Thanks go also to my best friend Mark of First Cast Jigs for supplying the jigs that made the difference today
Troy hooked one of those Tillamook monsters today. Couldn't move the brute and he finally got off.

That's great Shane!
I'm hearing awesome reports from all rivers around the coast! It rocks!!!

I just went out back and caught the ugliest chum I ever did see!

I think I'm just going to work on ifish for a while, and stick around home. There is just no telling what I'll get, out back... and I tend to stay out of trouble that way!

Well I've always tried to set a good example for them by showing them how much fun fishing is and giving them lots of love and respect. I think me and their mom did okay graemlins/hearton.gif
Thing is Troy is already a very good fisherman and hunter. Devon is a quick learner too and he is my favorite fishing partner.
You guys who don't fish with your kids are missing out.

Are the hooks heavier than regular jig hooks?
Heavy enough to use 20 lb+? Or what size line are you running? Thanks, MM

The Salmon jigs I tie are made with 3/0 Owner jig hooks. These hooks are almost the same size as 5/0 Owner bait hooks.

When using these jigs for Fall Chinook the lightest line I use is 17# test. On my Salmon rod that is rated from 15-40 # test, I routinely use 20-40# leaders and haven't even come close to bending one of these hooks. They are that strong.
