I'm wanting to know how many of you out there fish McNary on a regular basis. I am out there at least three times a week. Lately it seems like it has been pretty slow. This time last year we were catching a lot more fish. I will be intersted in hearing other people comments.

Hey - new member, welcome to Ifisher.
If you really want to get a feel for who is fishing the McNary area and associated fishing reports I suggest you do a search on member #466, Fear No Fish. Undoubtedly he is the master of these waters, above the dam, for steelhead and salmon. graemlins/applause.gif
FNF, I am not worthy to say anymore....you are a legend who stands tall amongst us.

Welcome new member. I have fished above McNary for years now. I am fishing 100% of my time above the dam from Sept. on to Feb. Then I go below for the springers and the walleye.
This is one of the strangest years I have ever encountered above. The fish came early. At first I though that it was the water temp. Then I though it was the baro. changes. Now I am really confused???? Fishing is realy slow. Why??
Facts are facts; this year the best way to catch fish is at night with a lighted K-13. Other than that I would say to keep pulling them warts. Sooner or later Mr. B-run will take a bite and it will all be worth the hours you have put in.
If things dont change soon, I think I'll go back to school and re-think waht I have learned over the past 20 years. graemlins/stupid.gif
Good luck.

Bulldog,
B-run fish are normaly a larger run of fish. They are usually the last of the fish to be headed up to the home waters of the Clearwater and the Snake. Other than that I dont know anything about their genetics. All I know is when you hook up to one of those baby's, your in for a little different fight. Maybe someone else can broaden our knowledge of the B-run.
Please reply. I would sure like to know.

B-run steelhead are two ocean fish. They average between 8-12 pounds with many over that. NICE fish, and I think you guys fishing down there should let the big boys come home...I want a 20 pounder this year!

Sad but true.
I fished the 9-11th of November and Nary one strike. We fished until 1230 am and up at 5 am and fished until 7 pm. We saw 7 total fish caught and two of those were over by the little power plant on the shore. I tried probably every differrent combo I had in my box. Did the lighted vortex with shrimp at night, Wiggle warts all colors with and without shrimp. Flatlined, Downriggers, trolling weights, floats. You name it we tried it. Slow Fast, it didn't seem to matter. I heard should have been here last year 10 times along with why aren't you in Lewiston till I could puke. I like McNary and I'll Be Back!
So now I know who that Afghanie yell was.
FNF  You Da Man!!!
Let me know when it picks up, and I'm there!

Mike,
Since I love you so much, I cannot think of anything bad to say about you. Wait, I did spank you 4 fish to none on our last outing  . Oh yea, I didn't mention anything about your non existent netting abilities graemlins/berry.gif . It sure is nice getting to fight the same fish three times after you tried knocking it off three times  ! Your lights are the real deal! graemlins/hearton.gif

Dear Mr. Fear,
I do believe the getto blaster volume or the headlamp has effected your fish count. Please insert more DC power modules.
3 for 5 ain't bad

That was three hatchery fish, one wild fish. If I do the math, that adds up to 4! Silly Southfork, Metal is for men! Come on down when you want another lesson. You will need to bring more beer, so I can have at least one. Beer bogarter! Will be out Wed. Thur. Fri. and Sat. Wish you were here! By the way, I remember every fish I catch! graemlins/berry.gif
