I fished the Deschutes the past two days. I only hooked one steelhead. So I am thinking about checking the ole Nestucca out. Does anyone know if the fish are up around Hebo yet?? I would think they are, but haven't been out there.

At the top of the trout creek island. It took a caballero egg pattern fished with a strike indicator. I saw some spawners so I tried the coastal standby, drifting egg patterns in 3-6ft of walking speed water. Unfortunately I was unable to land it. It got deep into my backing, threw a head shake, and broke me off.
cheers,
craig

MasterCaster,

Send me an email too. I'd like to know about any winter steelhead around the Nestucca. Didn't see any Saturday.

Saw some old black tires landed last Saturday (sore head chinook). But this was before the last shot of rain. It should be good today and tomorrow, but the water is dropping fast after the last spit of rain. The fresh chinook are still in tidewater for the most part.

It is a little too early for winter steelhead. There are some summer runs in there. Most of the summer runs are still in great shape, though, if you can find them in the low, clear, spooky, water.
