How about some info on Winter Steelhead on the Sandy,like when do they usually start.... :grin: :grin: :grin:

Not soon enough!.... after turkey day hatchery showing up in December - January the natives moving in all the way through March.. nothing finer.... I did my bit of trollling in the bay for the t-bay hogs etc. I just don't think it matches up to a cold stark day on the river in the driftboat... the tick tick tick and then throb throb throb of the drift rod... makes me tingley!

I've heard any time after Thanksgiving, but I haven't proved it myself.

The Sandy will not have Steelhead this year, they return every other year...
Such being some what true in the real run starts mid Dec I don't start until after Christmas

Dont forget that the hatchery fish are broodstock this year...that means later returns.

I use to live 10 minutes from Dodge Park. End of December. Mid January is the hottest time for hatchery.
