I don't usually fish winter's much because I am normally burned out on early and late coho and enjoy the better weather then.

But my little experience with winters kind of hints with all the very early winters we are seeing this year already could very well indicate a strong return of winters this season.

Two guy's I know have already got their third winter and these are not late summers in diguise.
Saw one on the bank of the Lalama Saturday.
Saw a nate winter released at the mouth of the Toutle.
Have heard of others and this has been going on since the beginning of November.

So what do you think, big returns this winter?

Lets hope so! I've heard of a few seen in some of the lower Columbia tribs.

it's when people start talking about them being "late" is when I get worried.

Expecting an early return may be tough. Remember that many rivers now are made up of broodstock hatchery fish and wild fish now...

Many of these fish will not return until after New Years in our local waters.

We may still see a good year, but it may not come as a torrent of fish at Xmas like in the past.
