There has been a lot of talk lately on the message board about taking care of sand shrimp to they stay alive.
If you can't find fresh sand shrimp or are not in the passition to keep them that way try fishing for steelhead with peeled prawn tails. Go to your local super market and buy some of those grey tiger prawns. You can buy as many as you want and keep them frozen until you need them, thawing out only what you need. While fishing keep them in a small cooler with an ice pack, peel them, cut them into the size you need and the fish will love them. Many anglers in eastern Washington were fresh sand shrimp are rare use these a lot. And they stay on the hook great!
You can peel them the night before and soak them in your favorite scent or even add a little egg cure or dye to brighten them up.
