February and the Clackamas were good to me this month, what a blessing!

And who would have thought on the Clack? Not me, that's for sure! I havn't run any trips for about three years on the Clackamas River, every thing's been down on the coast up till now.

Usually the Clackamas is high and the fish move through quickly or are so spread out it's like a needle in a hay stack to find them. But with the drought it's been perfect. The only time I got skunked was one day on the Wilson.

It's good to be dialed in.

For February we caught 38 steelhead, three of them early summer runs, for 13 days.

A three fish per day average!

We caught 11 on jigs, one on a shrimp, two on plugs and the rest on eggs.

I didn't record how many we hooked and lost and I don't remember of the top of my head.

The highlights of this month were the 20 lb native Nick Amato caught, the three summers we caught durring my last three trips and the big native we caught today in the Willamette that was around 16 or 17 pounds. I have never caught a summer before spring break before.

I hope March will continue on this streak but I know one day it will all end.
