I have a Honda 8 (BF8A) that just went out of warranty, so I am starting to do the maintenance on it myself.
Can anyone tell me where the oil filter is on it? There is no reference in the owners manual to changing an oil filer, just the oil.
Thanks from the Spoiled (maybe even dumb  graemlins/stupid.gif  ) Daddy

Just keep the oil changed. I wondered the same thing when I bought my Honda, years ago.

SD,do these things once a year and you'll be good to go. Change oil, spark plugs and lower unit grease. Oh yea hit the zerk grease fitting as well. Always use fresh fuel. One more thing, pull the prop off and check for fishing line,it can take out the lower unit grease seal.

I plan on doing those standard items for routine maintenance.
The local Honda dealership insists that there is a filter for that model and I was just told on the phone that if I can't find it, to bring it in and they will do it for me... Of course, they want a shop hour to show it to me and do it, but...
Thanks for the replys. I will keep researching it. SD

OK My Honda dealer, or should I say his mechanic, called back and confirmed that there is no filter on this particular model of engine. They started putting filters on them in 2001 on the "D" model engines.
Thanks for your help! SD
