when float fishing with GSP line, do you let the line float on the water, and mend it when it forms a belly, or keep it off the water?

Let it float on the surface (hence floating line) mend it as it develops a belly, Careful with hooks sets and light LB leaders, since that braided line doesn't have memory it doesn't take much to snap your leader. I use 40-50 LB test
leader.

Then again there will be instances where you don't need your line to to touch the water, like in small proximity's.

depending on the water you're fishing, keep it airborne if you can. if you have to let it lay on the water, pick it up and move it often. if it breaks the surface and starts to dive, it's really hard to correct.
