Pulled in yesterday about noon from across the river , not a bite there, went in to the first bend and let out a mag size fire tiger, minute later got a 27" steelhead. Went back today except I went way up by phillipie park and caught one smaller 24"......ahhhhh let it begin. cold out there, snowed but wasn`t sticking all day.....till noon. still snowing here in the dalles, not sticking yet either.

Thanks for the report.
We were up there yesterday 11-2. We didn't touch a fish, but heard of a fair number of fish caught.
My wife said that she saw an Ifish sticker on another boat up there, was that you??? We were in a 20' red open Alumaweld.

Alright dampainter, you're the man. I've always wanted to try this fishery and bring a shotgun for the chuckar. If I bump into you on the river some weekend would you show me how to rig for these guys? I've never caught one single fish on a wiggle wart type plug (except for bass). Are you just 'longlineing' them with scent?...

Bounty Hunter,
I usually just long line my plugs, 50 pulls works good for me. I experiment with different scents, shrimp, crawfish, anise, Ultra Bite, ect, ect.
If you are going to pull a wiggle wart or Brad's, make sure you change out those factory hooks for something larger, or a single hook set up. It will break your heart when you finally hook up with a monster "B" run and have your hooks bend :depressed:
You will see a lot of orange plugs, but don't be afraid to try different colors
Good luck when you go, and remember if you hunt that area, make sure you are above the sign's before you start shooting...

bountyhunter.....LOL I am not the man, I am just lucky occasionally. the only wiggle warts or magnum warts I use are from old storm ( plastic box with blue label) cannot find any place except maybe ebay. never really have used any scent although I just picked up a bottle of Dr. Juice`s trout & salmon and will be trying that this year. with either wart I use 20lb. ultra green and let out approx. 50 yards. with the wiggle warts I fish in 10- 15` water and the magnums in 15 to 25-30` water. I put the plugs on a duolock snap swivel. The colors I use in order would be fire tiger followed by a hot tiger than it could be any one of them: a michael jackson, same but with a red butt, same but with a green butt, or a all silver and with a red back. the rainbow has gotten fish too. Most important, bring patience.....and then wait....watch that rod tip.....any second it could have a FISH ON!!! and watch the depth finder to make sure you keep with the same depth. hope this helps, if you see me stop by.....I`ll be in a little(it gets me out there...)14` white aluminum with a 15hp "YAMAHA" with a ifish sticker and a anti-bannana sticker on the transom......by the way, only ifisher I met up with on the water to date was rapid robert on the klickitat....you others are fishing other waters or are in need of ifish stickers......I watch for them on the back of peoples transoms. also, I don`t fish the john day, last weekend was my first shot, you will see me every chance I get from now till end of january in the columbia downriver from the mouth of the deschutes  did I really say that?? a busy day and I may see around 5-6 others  join me....it`s starting......
