Nick Amato of STS Magazine fished with me on the Clackamas today after getting a small hachery fish of about five pounds Nick got a 20 pound native. It tore him up! When Nick first hooked him that big buck headed right up stream to the top of the run, than back down, then back up. It broke water six times, twice it cleared the water doing summer salts. Fifteen minutes later we had him to the bank, took his length and girth and several photos and back he went.
He was Nicks biggest Oregon steelhead. A true trophy!
What did Nick get them on? Pink pearl corkie and eggs.
At the beggining of the trip I told Nick he had to take over the oars after he got one or two fish so after landing that pig I told him he was at the oars for sure!
What did Nick guide me into on the rest of the trip? Two nice suckers! Gues I was the sucker for the day. I even caught one of them on a jig.
