My dad just got a 16ft northriver with a 8horse kicker on it. The question is at certain rpms there seems to be a tone or a vibration sound. You can speed up or slow down and the sound is gone. Is this something normal or not? thanx Dan

Sounds like a harmonic vibration. I have the same kicker haven't noticed any vibrations or noise. Wait I have noticed a difference in noise. MUCH LESS than my old 2 stroke.
You might add a kicked pad under the motor and see if that helps. I think I paid $10.00 for mine.

thanx for the reply we will try that. couldn`t hurt.
I have the same motor and it't very quiet with a kicker pad. I also hit the tilt buttom just a touch and that really makes a difference on my boat. You can't find a better motor.

I'm interested in the "kicker pad". Is that a standard product? What's it made of? Where do you get one? Thanks.

Kicker pad is called a transom saver. I bought one never used it, I think they are a waste on aluminum boats. Made of rubber, got mine at Cabela's.
As far as harmonic vibration, I get it in both boats and it is something in the boat doing the vibrating like a net, seat or something like that.
