images/icons/grin.gif Whaoooo! Fish on! The ocean opener was fantastic! 3:30 a.m. the fishermen were linning up for their Fresh Herring and racing for the launch.
The Lady Dee, had fourteen passengers on board the boat and left the dock
at 6 a.m. The bar crossing and the ocean was flat calm. They ran out to buoy
two and set the gear in and trolled south west. After the first day jitters with
many fish caught and many fish lost, everybody settled in and started catching
fish. Fish on! Grab your pole. Get your thumb off the reel. Keep the pole tip
up.......Whew..........fish in the box!
By 1:30 p.m. they had their limit of twenty eight fish. They stayed out a little
longer and caught some fish for the boat and crew. Quality of the fish was
good for the first of July. A few small ones, but the rest of them very nice.
The average for Chinook was probably one to five fish.
By mid day, fishermen were in the shop buying ice for their fish. Reports from
them varied. Most of the fish were caught using e-z divers and the Delta divers.
Few were using flashers. Seemed like everything worked well that day. Reports
on fish size ranged from seven to nine pound silvers. With the Chinook ranging
ten to thirty some pounds. Of course there were a few of those small feeders.
But over all the fish were very nice, especially for this early in the year.
The bait of choice is FRESH HERRING. You can order fresh bait the day
before by giving us a call at (503) 861-3693 or by email at tackletime@seasurf.net
Fresh herring come by the dozen and the fresh Anchovie is sold by the pound.
We still have a few dates open for charters...So come on.....Let's go fishing!!!
