Hey iFishers,

Was hoping I could get some tips from those of you who successfully troll the lower Columbia for Coho. We mainly stick to the Portland/Vancouver area. Not looking for zipperlip locations but rather tips on techniques (tackle, rigs, depth, best tides, etc). Thanks in advance for all public and/or personal replies.

Launch at Chinook Landing near Troutdale...cross river to the Washington side (Be careful...it gets really shallow if you go straight across).

Fish below Lady Island and into the Camas Slough, trolling Wiggle Warts in flourescent colors. Try different trolling speeds to see what works best. Keep us posted.

Be aware that if you troll into the Camas Slough you have to have a WA license. The sloughs are NOT shared boundary waters. There was a big post about this last year if you search.

I'm telling you man...
M.J.'s the hot ticket. Trust me.
100' behind the boat, moderate troll, upstream and downstream, seam water...

Dip the rear inch of the plug in flourescent orange paint, ot just paint with brush, and ya, thats the Michael Jackson. Also had really good luck with pink metallic last year. I also ook the middle hook off and replaced the back with just a slightly larger one, equalling more fish in the boat. Good Luck.

Michael Jackson. Black with silver glitter finish! Wiggle warts or Brad's wigglers.

I'm not for sure on this but I don't think that really gets started good here untill ?? the middle of Oct.There's some caught before that but if I remember it was around the 2nd or 3rd week of Oct.everybody seems to troll with wiggle warts orange and pink and yes MJ's.

Ditto for us today. Had 2 really good pound downs on small warts in the slough but neither stuck. Could not tell whether they were dark Chinooks or Coho but they were good hits.
