Ok, I'm REALLY to the final countdown here. I think I've got everything lined up for my "hopeful" boat pick-up on Saturday. Think I've got everything purchased ahead of time (5 months wait should have been enough time for that!).

1. Fishfinder
2. VHF on it's way (still looking for the right antenna)
3. 300ft rope, bouy system, anchor
4. 150ft rope, spare bouy and anchor
5. Rod holders
6. Lifejackets
7. Throwable cushion
8. Bumpers
9. Assorted bow/tie off ropes
10. Marine tool kit
11. Cooler and mounting bracket
12. Boat hook/poke pole

Still on hold for more $$....Mounted GPS unit (have a handheld for the time being).

Must be a ton of things I've forgotten, just to get the maiden voyage on the water!! Sure I'll get some help here

Flare kit, bag of zip ties, fillet knifes (bow and stearn), chocks on the bow, anchor mount/roller, couple of qts of 2 cycle oil (sportjet ?).

Ah that new boat smell......

Yup, 240 sportjet...

Got 3 gallons of the "good stuff" at Costco the other day (Mercury mix).

Got the other stuff...but forgot about flares!!

I find a small bucket is handy for a variety of things! I keep several things in my glove box that might be handy: kleenex, spare spark plugs, spot light, copy of the fishing regs, extra plug for the boat, squeegee for foggy windows, power cord for cell phone.

Pee bucket.

Cutting board for bait.

Scrub brush.

Trash bucket/Wastebasket

Roll of toilet paper.

Life jackets in range of sizes

Washdown pump system?

VHF?

Handheld spotlight?

Digital scale.

Container for scents.

Bucket for weights.

(This is very important) a jack system that will raise the trailer, even if the tires are completely flat. This means the jack is short enough to fit under the lift point when the tire is flat, and has enough travel to raise the trailer high enough to get the new tire on. A non-trivial accomplishment. Don't ask how I know this - it was not fun.

Bearing buddies and grease.

Flushing attachment for the kicker.

Sea anchors... you'll need 'em if you want to fish the Columbia for URB's!

Backup fuel filter - new tanks are notorious for having "stuff" in them. Assorted butt connectors and a crimping tool. Wires can look good but wiggle loose at the first pounding. Extra ropes and a serrated-blade knife to cut them if necessary. Whistle or backup sound device.

Oh, and 4000 of your favorite Ifish buddies!

Congrats on your new boat!

Trash bags, tinfoil and one gallon zip lock bags for the fish eggs. Oh ya, make sure your first aid kit has plenty of pain reliever and antacid tablets. A good pair of leather gloves comes in handy also. One thing I find indispencible is 4-5 old bath towels. Glass cleaner, extra tail light bulbs, tool kit, jack for the boat trailer, mooring lines, binoculars, one gallon of water, salt and pepper, paper plates, and last but not least a portable gas Weber BBQ with tongs.

Ooops, got sea anchors already...

cutting board, need that..

have 6 jackets in various adult sizes, and 4 kid jackets in various sizes...

got a "short jack"

lots of rags (been garage sale-ing)

Yup, need to add more to the list!!

This is great, thanks....it's my 4th boat, and second sportjet, but I knew I'd be forgetting "important" things up front.

Hey, getting a BoiceJet? Cool! I have been plenty happy with mine (20' - V6). I picked mine up last year. Tell Justin I said hi. He sells a good boat, built tough, and handles well.

Once you get your boat, get a spare key hidden on your boat somplace. Don't ask me how I would know about this...

Bennett Trim Tabs. You will never be sorry you put them on your boat.

A paddle- useful mainly for pushing other boats from you.

A couple of bungee cords in the boat are always handy, as is a small roll of tape (if it is not in your first aid kit.

Another cool thing to stuff somewhere is one of those disposable, one time use cameras.

Uh,,,you didn't say NET. Probably got it in there, but since you are getting your boat for fall fishing,,,make it a BIG NET, and we hope to see a 50# in it soon.

Tissue...so when you scratch that new baby, you can have something to wipe up the tears with

Someone already said scrub brush, But I thought I'd throw this in. I bought one of those really fancy telescoping handle (pop out buttons), stainless steel combination deck brush and boat hook. I spent like $90. One of those things I thought I must be nuts, but week moment.

The thnig I use an aweful lot is the telescoping pole with boat hook. When you beach your boat on gravel bars, especially alone, you can push the stern out and keep from sucking rocks into the jet. I use it a ton. Also scrub off blood and such from time to time.

Siver Hilton mentioned a wash down pump...a must. Also a warm water hand wash is cheep-cheep and oh so handy.

Good luck,

See yah on the water!

TR, just take a rubber mallet down the side of it while in the driveway,, about 50 hits a side should do. That way you can spend more time fishing instead of running it on the rocks for an hour.

Okay, so I am jealous.

Now you have an answer to the question that has plagued Ifishers for months.

So....Just HOW LONG does it take to put together an aluminum boat, anyway?? <font size="2" face="verdana,arial,helvetica">5 MONTHS!

He could not catch a fish at safeway with a net and 20 bucks in his pocket.

Just a trick to keep things dry and help keep the rust off of them.

I use our vaccum packer and vaccum seal the tool kits and all the little extras that you rarely have to get into, but need to be in clean working condition when you need them the most. I sealed up the entire tool kit, extra toilet paper, electrical parts, etc...

Other than that, it sounds like you've already got it or have got it on your list! Good luck and congratulations on your new boat!
