John Day Arm of the John Day Pool

Looks like I will get the chance to head up there with a buddy of mine's boat. I have heard and seen video on fishing for steelhead in the John Day arm. Bobber fishing I believe. And, trolling mag worts (or whatever they are called these days). Can someone offer a few pointers.

We will be making the trip in a couple weeks (first full weekend in September).

I don't think the fishing really starts there until mid October.
