From the talk of local fishermen fishing is just so so. Effort is still really light at Garibaldi. The few boats that have gone out are having really good success,(Charters).
Most of the fish are rockfish, not many lingcod. Fishing along the jetties are producing nice fish. Some are greenling and some perch. Not many lingcod yet.
I know of one 28 inches was caught on the north jettie. Using white grub worms.
I've been hearing of springers here and there but no real concrete proof.
The ocean IS open under last years rules. However the triangle area remains closed until May. The PFMC will adopt final ocean seasons for the summer on friday and (today) April 6th and the ODFW commission will adopt seasons for state waters on the 20th. [Report was from Robert ]
The Wilson is looking real good still. Its right around 4 feet tonight and will be hit tomorrow for steelhead. Use jigs.
I got a report from Ron in Nestucca today. He said the river was coming up real fast and it was at the 6 ft level when we talked this morning. Since then the sun has come out and it cleared up some. More rain saturday and sunday tho.
This is transition time.
I say if you want to go fishing GO! Just come prepared for what ever.
If theres anything you might want,[ when it comes to fishing,] let me know and I will try and get it for you.
My vending machine is full tonight so if you come real early and I'm not up yet, just use it. It takes only 1s and 5s, Crisp and smooth bills. Its a great machine. It gives you back change to.
