I know its been a while but things are real slow.

But the Wilson has been producing nice Brood Stock Steel Head.

For the past two weekends, many fish have been braught in. Alot more than usual.

Tons of guys are using small sand shrimp and using the tails on their jigs or lures.

Spray on a dose of Marie's Shrimp Scent and BAM! you'll be into them!

We went fishing in Newport last week-end for Herring, couldn't find them. Then two days later we were told the herring had gone WAY up river and were just now coming back down to the bay. We were able to get 50 pounds.

Last weekend we took a trip up the Cowlitz River.! WOW ! What a grand sight!
Right along the river which is very low, as far as you could see, there were tons of people with their nets dipping for SMELT! I have never witnesed it before! It was amazing and fun at the same time.
We were there to pick up a load from the commercial netters.
Did you know they start at 6pm saturday night and work all night until 6am the next morning!. So we were able to gets our portion of 200 pounds around 9:30pm.

The experience makes me want to go back! And dip my own!

On the Cowlitz your smelt limit is only 10 pounds. On the Sandy you can get 25 pounds every day!

Well the weather is supposed to be yucky all weekend, but will improve for the fair weather fisherman next week.

Not a single crabber came down this weekend. We still have tons of fresh crab bait. so we'll look for next week end as a possible better time.

Not a single sturgeon has been caught in such a long time, I almost forgot what one looks like. Several undersized ones have been caught but thats all.

Manzinita has been producing tons of perch.
Its the place to go. Small sand shrimp using a size 1 snelled hook attached to your line with a bear paw is the way to go.

If you don't know what a Bear Paw is come in and I'll show you.

We're gearing up for jetty and Ocean and Bay fishing, since all the rivers and lakes are drying up. You still need to go fishing and clamming.

Don't give up, this is only a temporary set back by Mother Nature. Things WILL improve, I've allready sent her a letter.

Until then, GO Fishing and have fun!
