Hey iFishers,
We were going to try mouth of Cowlitz tomorrow. Looking at my atlas it looks like there is a launch about a mile up the Cowlitz and another on the Columbia below the mouth. Are there other's? Better one's? TIA!

This time of year, I'd be inclined to launch at Port of Kalama. I haven't been to the Cowlitz launch recently, but earlier this year there was a good sized bar right out in front. As low as the river is now, might be dicey.

I'd agree about avoiding Gearhart Gardens. With this low water,it may be iffy right now. Kalama or Raineer should serve you better.

Stick with Kalama or Raineer ramps with a prop boat. If you have a jet follow someone out at Gearhart, the sand has built up all the way across from the ramp and several places before the mouth has sand bars that were not there last year, be carefull! Returning to the ramp at low tide there are some areas that a couple feet is the deepest channel. -Steve

I agree...Kalama or Rainier is your best bet. Goble is not too far upriver, but those two are the closest. From what I heard, it's pretty tricky launching from Gearhardt Gardens as low as the Cowlitz is right now. Just my $0.02 .
