Help replacing seal on kicker

I have an 02 merc 8 hp 2 cycle. The last couple of times I've went to use it, there has been a small amount of gear lube leaking out of it. I removed the prop and dont see anything abnormal.
I was just wondering if an average person can change the seal or is it better off to leave it
to the experts?

Would that happen to be a clear fluid or a dark fluid. If its clear I would say yes you have a leak, If its dark I would say dont worry about & watch Your oil mixing carefully.

Yes, it is defineately the blue green gear lube and not excessive exhaust oil :whazzup:

if you've ever turned a wrench and you're the conscientious type, you can do the seal yourself. borrow the shop manual from your local library and dig in. unless you're overzealous with hammers and stuff, you'll be fine.
