Best fishing tides?

Is the best tidal exchange for fishing when there is little change between the high and low tide or when there is a big change between the high and low? I was running thru the tide book trying to calculate the best part of september to fish nehalem bay thinking the least tidal exchange is best. Am I bass-ackwards? :whazzup:

I think you want bigger exchange for fishing, smaller exchanges for crabbing

I prefer a a 3 to 5 foot tide. It's large enough to bring the fish in but not so big that they blow past your bait.
